Description

In celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, the New Orleans Public Library has partnered with VAYLA to compile suggested titles for all ages to read and watch throughout May and beyond. These titles honor the contributions and influences of Asian American and Pacific Islander Americans have made to the culture, achievements, and history of the United States.

VAYLA is a New Orleans-based nonprofit that incubates AAPI leaders for a more just tomorrow. VAYLA exists as an embodiment and commitment to activating tomorrow’s AAPI leaders in New Orleans and beyond. They engender leadership to address social inequities facing our community while anchored in an anti-racist, Queer, Feminist lens.

At the forefront of these issues, VAYLA focuses on environmental justice, reproductive justice, and civic engagement initiatives. Learn more about VAYLA's mission and how you can get involved here.
