Visits to Schools

If you are interested in having a librarian visit your classroom or school for a family literacy night, age-appropriate digital literacy training, story time, or library card sign-up drive, please fill out the Outreach Request Form here or call 504-596-2576 to speak with the outreach librarian.

Visiting the Library

If you are interested in visiting the Library with your school group, please contact your closest branch to inquire about available times and offerings.

All New Orleans Public Library locations do not open until 10am and may only be able to accommodate a limited number of students.

Online Resources

With a library card account, teachers and students have access to free high-quality databases and e-resources. These resources are available anywhere with Internet access.

• Explora from Ebsco- provides dedicated research centers for elementary to high school, as well as a Teacher Resource Center.

HomeworkLouisiana- provides homework help and tutoring for kindergarten through basic college level. Free test prep, skills building, and online live tutoring are some of the resources available.

Kanopy in the classroom- insert parts of videos into presentations, create playlists for students, or show entire videos with an internet connection in your classroom. Viewing films in a group forum is permitted as long as the viewing is by authorized viewers and it is not for commercial benefit (i.e. no admission costs are charged and no profit is made from the screening).

Lynda.com- provides learning tutorials to further professional development. Check out K - 12 Education Training and Tutorials, or select a subject of interest to you.

If you want to work with a staff member one-on-one for additional help navigating our e-resources or to grow your digital literacy skills, check out this list of computer help at various library locations.
